Over the past six months, from ChangeNOW in Paris to conversations with investors, partners and institutions across Africa and beyond, we have been quietly building.
Today, 1 October 2026, the EG-Economic Empowerment Fund enters its next phase: from First Close to Second Close.
It has been a defining past semester for EG Capital.
We completed our First Close, strengthened the Fund’s blended-finance and risk-management architecture, secured institutional liquidity and local-currency hedging capacity, and commenced deployment into our first investments.
We have also strengthened the investment platform around EG-EEF across management, risk, ESG, impact and governance bringing together experienced partners and leadership to support the Fund as it scales.
We are investing in climate adaptation and resilience in the real economy, providing growth capital to African SMEs that strengthen food security, health resilience and human capital, while helping businesses asset-proof their operations against a changing climate.
There is still a great deal ahead of us. But this quarter marks an important transition:
EG Capital has reached First Close of the EG-Economic Empowerment Fund and is launching the Fund on the Nairobi Securities Exchange PLC’s Unquoted Securities Platform for its Second Close, supported by technical assistance from the UK’s FCDO MOBILIST programme, to mobilise institutional capital for climate adaptation, resilience and economic empowerment across Africa.
None of this is built alone. Thank you to our investors, partners, advisers, Board and team and to the many institutions that have engaged with us, challenged us and supported the journey.
And today, we begin the next phase of our journey: Second Close, with a proposed listing on the Nairobi Securities Exchange Unquoted Securities Platform, targeting a minimum $40 million listing size, supported by technical assistance from the UK’s FCDO Mobilist programme.
EG Capital makes private debt investments in mid-sized businesses in Food Security, Health Resilience, Emergency Response and Human Capital (incl Ed-tech) across East Africa and the SADC Region.
EG Capital is currently seeking Investment Professionals to join our rapidly expanding company in our Nairobi and Lusaka offices. Please send resumes to info@egcapital.online
