EG Capital Secures 90% Commitments Toward First Close of Climate Adaptation Fund, Supported by $30M European Government Guarantee In Completion

Paris, France – March 30, 2026 — EG Capital, a private credit fund manager focused on climate adaptation investments across Africa, today announced that it has secured commitments for 90% of its First Close.

The fund manager anticipates closing additional commitments in the coming weeks, for a $25 million First Close target by the end of June 2026. The structure is supported by a $30 million European government-backed guarantee, currently being finalised.

The fund is designed to invest in profitable, growth-stage businesses operating in sectors critical to climate resilience, including food systems, health, emergency response and human capital (including edtech). With a pipeline exceeding $70 million in investment opportunities, EG Capital is positioned to begin deployment immediately following the First Close.

Notably, $10 million of commitments have been secured from African institutional investors, representing a strong signal of local market confidence. In addition, approximately 70% of capital has been mobilized from private sector investors, including family offices, underscoring growing investor appetite for climate adaptation strategies on the continent.

“We are seeing a clear shift: private capital is increasingly stepping into climate adaptation in Africa,” said Sandrine Henton, Managing Director of EG Capital. “This fund demonstrates that well-structured investment strategies can deliver both blended, risk-adjusted financial returns and address some of the most urgent climate challenges facing the continent.”

The fund is further supported by a $30 million guarantee from a European government, expected to be finalized in the coming months, designed to provide significant capital protection and enhance the fund’s risk-return profile.

Africa remains one of the most under-allocated regions globally in private credit, yet is at the forefront of climate vulnerability. EG Capital’s strategy aims to bridge this gap by channelling capital into scalable businesses that strengthen local resilience while delivering attractive risk-adjusted returns.

EG Capital will make a presentation at ChangeNOW 2026 in Paris, one of the world’s leading events for climate solutions, where it has been selected as one of a group of 12 globally recognized funds driving innovation in climate finance. The fund is targeting a Final Close of $100 million by June 2027 to pursue its structured scale-up strategy across climate adaptation sectors in Africa.
